Community Census Goes “Back to School”

First stop, the Brooklyn Public Library.

Starting this weekend, the Community Census will be traveling through Brooklyn to capture public perceptions from Brooklyn library goers, residents, and visitors. In collaboration with TYTHEdesign, 3×3 Design is teaming up with the Brooklyn Public Library to pinpoint where local amenities and library services can expand or improve. We are excited to be showcasing our public installation in three diverse communities this Fall – Kensington, Fort Greene, and Prospect Park – to help the Brooklyn Public Library engage with its varied neighborhoods.

To see the data from our Greenwich Village installation at the Village Alliance’s Positively 8th St. Festival, you can download the results or view them on the Community Census Website. In the coming months we will be aggregating a larger pool of data to see the range of opportunities and needs across New York City’s unique neighborhoods.

Come be a part of the Community Census this Saturday, August 28th from 9:30 am to 2pm at the Kensington Library Branch, located at 4207 18th Avenue in Brooklyn, NY.  Be ready to share your thoughts and opinions, and suggest opportunities for neighborhood health and growth!

Community Members contribute information about access to community amenities and assets on a Likert scale.

Family Members input data on the quality and quantity of neighborhood resources.

Pedestrians stop to engage, share conversations, and contribute information.

We collected over 125 participant surveys on 8th Street in Manhattan, and look forward to gathering more data in Brooklyn.
