The Finale- IDeA:ENY Impact Report is here

Wrapping up work in East New York and sharing the story

It’s storytelling time: to wrap up this year-long project, we publish its final Impact Report, a self-reflective summary of the community-centered approach the team has taken over time. The document, prepared by 3×3 Design, captures the lessons learned in the process and describes the various strategies used to engage community players, mostly the small businesses of East New York.

We Hope This Report Will Be An Important Tool To Show How Human-Centered Design Can Help Mobilize Community Stakeholders And Enhance Organizational Capacity For Social Impact In Areas Undergoing Major Change, Like East New York,” Say Megan Marini And Vanessa Monique Smith, Of 3×3 Design.

The report will be hand-distributed to all parties involved in the project, as a final “passing of the torch”. “The banner in the IBZ and the recent fence installation at 101 Penn Avenue will hopefully stay as visible markers of the East New York identity; but the report is also part of the project legacy, for those who like to read, get inspired and eager to pursue this kind of work in other neighborhoods,” says Laetitia Wolff, Program Director, Civic Initiatives at AIGA/NY.

American Institute of Graphic Artists, New York

seeks to demonstrate design’s impact and cultivate the future of design in NYC. We do this through: connecting professional designers and students with ideas, information and each other; advocating for design within the city’s civil and cultural life; leading collaborative projects with local communities; and championing excellent work and innovative practices.
