Value Storytelling

Movements are built on common understandings of a shared problem. But the meanings of the words we use to represent these ideas are different for each person depending on their memories, associations, experiences, traumas, education, or preferences. We often skip the important level setting step of making sure everyone is on the same page. The Value Storytelling exercise is a set of step-by-step instructions on why and how to define a shared culture, whether it be for a new initiative, a new project, or a new team. It lays bare differing understandings of key terms and differing values or perspectives held by each actor as a foundational step for building a shared vision.
